OVERVIEW

The challenge - develop a unique differentiator, that would leverage the Android platform without requiring massive rewrites of applications, and position Motorola low tier products as a partner to the higher tier MotoBlur family and against the competition, including lower priced generic Android phones coming from Asian manufacturers.

The solution - A simple and easy to use application that creates a visual journal, a new, unique and fun way to view and manage communications.

With prominent placement on the homescreen, the user can see key events aggregated in a widget view. One click launches a timeline view, allowing the user to browse their communication history and take actions such as reply, view or delete.

This design also has the following features:

1. Adapt to your life

Flashback is easily customizable based on who you want to connect to and what you want to see.

2. Future proof software architecture

The events that Flashback can support are based on standard APIs in the Android Contacts application. It guarantees that any preloaded or downloaded application can work with Flashback if they follow the Android API implementation. Due to this, Flashback can also be easily upgraded when the Android Contacts application expands its functionality.

3. Make it your own

The timeline structure and theme can be tailored easily per product and customer need. The end user can also personalize the look & feel.
